■Background
Lately, an increasing number of Japanese companies are utilizing cloud services for IT infrastructure, as part of a strategy to increase business productivity, and the Japanese domestic public cloud service market is estimated to grow by 2.4 times the 2019 level, to 2,064.4 billion yen, in 2024*.
Until recently, the migration of information systems and applications to the cloud has primarily been executed by large companies. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the increasing number of serious natural disasters, there is an ever more urgent need for small- and medium-sized companies to intensify their efforts aimed at teleworking support, data protection, and business continuity planning. In the future, IT service companies and application development companies, which help companies introduce and operate information technology, will face accelerated demand for migration of company information systems and applications to cloud-native systems.
